Inferia ◆ Celestia — out October 16, 2026
Tales of Eternia Remastered

Skits: the scenes this release restored

Quick answer

Skits are optional cut-in scenes that appear with a prompt as you travel; press the button as soon as it flickers or you lose the scene for that area.

Skits are the smallest and most missable content in the game: short, fully voiced scenes where the party talks to each other about something that has nothing to do with the plot. This release is the first English version to ship them with complete audio.

What a skit is

A skit is an optional cut-in scene triggered as you travel or interact with the world. The music drops, portraits of the party slide on screen, and the group holds a short conversation. The portraits change expression as they talk, which is where most of the comedy comes from.

They are not side quests: no enemies, no rewards you cannot get elsewhere, and no plot you need. What they do is establish who these people are. The party in the main story is constantly reacting to danger; the party in skits is arguing about food, teasing each other and being wrong about things.

Why this version is different

The original English release cut the voice tracks out of most skits to save on recording costs, because the scenes were considered optional. That practice was dropped by later entries in the series, and this remaster reverses it: the release has a newly recorded English dub and the skits are voiced with it. If you played an earlier English version and remember them as silent text, that is the part that changed.

How not to miss them

  • Watch for the prompt while you travel. When a skit is available, a cue appears on screen. Press it before you walk on, or you lose that trigger for the visit.
  • Trigger them in towns and at rest points. Many fire when you enter a location rather than in a corridor.
  • Re-enter areas. Some triggers are attached to specific moments in the story, and a location you visited before a plot beat can hold a skit you were not eligible for at the time.

Story scenes versus skits

The game has three kinds of dialogue and it helps to separate them:

TypeVoiceSkips plot?Where
Story scenesYesNoStory-progressed locations
SkitsYes, in this releaseYesTriggered anywhere while travelling
Menu and shop dialogueNoYesShops, inns, menus

Only the middle row is optional. If you are the kind of player who skips dialogue on a second run, skits are the part worth keeping on.

What they add to a guide

Not much mechanically — and that is the point. Skits flesh out the party's relationships, which is also where the game does its worldbuilding about how Inferia and Celestia see each other. Several of the most direct statements about Celestian attitudes toward Craymels come from optional banter rather than scripted plot, and one of the series' longest-running recurring gags is a pair of characters disagreeing about whether a dish is edible.
