The playable roster is six characters plus one temporary guest, and the game hands them to you slowly. Each one occupies a distinct slot: two physical fighters, two casters with different element pools, a flexible fourth and an optional heavy who arrives with his own artillery.

How to build the active party

  • Reid is permanent. He can hold swords, axes, spears, halberds, daggers, long swords and shields, which means almost any physical drop is an upgrade for somebody and that somebody is usually him.
  • Pick one caster, not two. Only one spell animates at a time, so a second dedicated caster spends most of a fight waiting. Keele is the bigger single-hit threat; Meredy covers the elements he does not.
  • Farah is the cheap frontline. Knuckles hit fast, and she brings recovery artes of her own, which reduces how many gels you burn.
  • Chat is the flexible fourth. Her damage is not the point; her utility and the fact that her ship is how you cross between worlds is.
  • Max is the boss specialist. His Craymel Gun carries several elements at once, which makes him the easiest character to bring to a fight you have not prepared for.

What each character's page covers

Each character page has their arte list, their stat priorities, the equipment that is actually worth buying for them and how to use them in a boss fight. Start with whoever is currently in your active party rather than reading them in order.

The guest character

Rassius "Ras" Luine is a senior knight of the Inferian Empire and a member of its nobility — and the son of a commoner who married into it. He fights with you briefly during the Inferian arc and is not a permanent party member, so do not build equipment around him.
