Keele Zeibel: the Light scholar
Keele's Craymel artes hit hardest of anyone in the party, but only one spell can animate at a time — so treat him as a follow-up caster, not an opener.
Keele Zeibel is a seventeen-year-old scholar who was thrown out of the university where he studied Light Craymelology. He was right about the end of the world and his faculty disagreed, which tells you most of what you need to know about him.

What he is for
Keele is the party's biggest single-target damage source in the game — when his spell is the one animating. His Craymel artes hit harder than anything the physical characters can do, and his element pool covers the Inferian side of the world.
The catch is the battle system itself. Only one spell can be animated at a time, for either side. If Keele and Meredy are both in the active party, one of them stands there holding an incantation while the other finishes, and if an enemy casts, both of them wait.
How to use him properly
- Bring one caster, not two. Keele is the better pick when the enemy is weak to Light, Fire, Water, Wind or Lightning.
- Cast behind a stagger. His long animations mean the spell should land on an enemy that Reid or Farah has already locked down.
- Treat long spells as crowd control. A high-level Craymel arte keeps an enemy out of the fight while your melee characters work, which is often worth more than its damage.
- Keep him out of melee range. His defence is not the reason he is in the party.
Artes and the usage gate
Keele learns base artes from combo commands and unlocks arcane versions through repeated use, exactly like the physical characters. Because casting is slow, the efficient approach is to pick two or three artes you actually want to upgrade and lean on those, rather than spreading usage across the whole list.
His weapon classes are the rod and the mace, both of which are caster weapons — the choice between them is a stat question rather than a different playstyle.
Equipment priorities
- A rod with the element you are about to need. His damage is elemental, so his weapon is a targeting choice as much as an upgrade.
- Anything that boosts magic or reduces casting time. Both are more valuable to Keele than defence.
- A ring that blocks the lair's status effect. He cannot cast while paralysed or frozen, and both happen often.
His role in the story
Keele's thesis theorised that the two worlds were closing on each other. The university's dean called it nonsense and expelled him; he moved to a mountain observatory with an outdated telescope and kept measuring, and was still doing it when the party found him. The party's ability to read Melnics at all comes from his stubbornness, and the first thing he does with a translated warning is recognise it as the thing he was thrown out for predicting.
